Right around this time of year all you seem to see, hear and read about are how people are making their top three New Year’s resolutions: to make more money, to quit smoking and to lose weight.

 
Now, I don’t know about the success rate of the first two resolutions, but as a fitness expert and someone who has helped dozens upon dozens of folks lose weight and get into better shape, I can tell you (and statistics have proven) that most people who make the resolution to lose weight in the New Year are doomed.
 
In fact, an article on CNN.com states that most people who have a New Year’s resolution to lose weight will fail.
 
In the same article, clinical psychologist Mark Crawford of Roswell, Georgia said that one reason people fail is because they sabotage themselves.
 
I believe this to be true as I’ve seen it firsthand myself.
 
You’ll start off in mid to late December telling yourself that you will commit to losing weight at the beginning of the New Year.
 
Over the weeks building up to the New Year, you formulate a plan of attack… to eat less, make better food choices, exercise more, and acquire healthier habits.
 
This, in fact, is the EXACT road-map to failure and the reason I’m writing you, to warn you NOT to make this critical mistake when making this year’s New Year resolutions. 
 
Let me explain. 
 
I’m going to be brutally honest with you, because I don’t see the “media” telling you this truth any time soon.
 
The reason most people fail at losing weight in the New Year is because…
1. Your goals are probably unrealistic, so you’re already setting yourself up for failure.
2. You’re unprepared. Sure you have a general idea that you want to lose weight, but you most likely do not have a game plan.
3. Your goals are unclear.
4. You lack support. Because the going WILL GET TOUGH and your support system is crucial to help you reach your goal.
 
Yet, nearly 96% of all people who set weight loss goals for the New Year don’t know how much they want to lose.
 
And if they can pin point a number they want to lose they still don’t have a “turn by turn” game plan to get there.
 
Frankly, I hate the idea of a “New Year resolution”. That’s just way too much pressure on anyone. PLUS, the way I see it, you can do anything you want, anytime you want.
 
You don’t need to wait till the New Year. If you’re the type of person that I think you are, I’m willing to bet that you can do anything you put your mind to and you can do it whenever you want.
 
So, if when you want to start is now, then start now.
 
If you do decide to commit, then do it because you made the decision to do it and not because the talking heads on TV and the radio influenced you to do it.
 
And now that you know how NOT TO FAIL, you can achieve whatever goal it is that you want to achieve.

What does the Biggest Loser Journey Look Like?

 

Here are the important steps to getting the most out of the Biggest Loser program and reaching your goals.  Complete all of the items and you will be well on your way to being crowned the next Biggest Loser.
 
Step One:
Write down one or two core habits to focus on and add this to your plan. Writing down your goals are a huge part of the dedication plan to attain those goals.
 
Step Two:
 
You will meet your team and be given a training time that fits your schedule. You and your team will work with a Medical Fitness Specialist and train two times per week for an hour. You will have a total of 24 semi-private training sessions with your team of 5 a($840.00 value) On top of this, you will want to map out your strategy to hit the gym on your off-days. You will be allowed to workout on your own anytime at the gym. Some teams plan days to come in together and workout as a group without a trainer. Going the extra mile takes effort and commitment, which is entirely up to you!
 
Step Three:
 
Gershon University is an educational system that will equip you with tools to be successful on this journey.  The Gershon University Videos will teach you how to live healthy and make a lifestyle with your new habits.  We recommend that you dive into our meal plan and begin to implement phase one right away.       
 
Step Four:
 
Start Journaling!!!! Journaling what you eat and following the meal plan will be a key component to your success in this program. You can get food journals right off of the GershonUniversity.com website. This website will be the information center while at Gershon Medical Fitness because it has so many of our educational aspect right there at your fingertips.  You will want to bring your journal to your Medical Fitness Specialist every week.
  
Journal your food as well as you know how to.  Write down what you eat, and try and track the calories you are eating as well. START THERE!
 
Step Five:
 
Grocery Shopping Tour:  A Gershon Medical Fitness trainer will guide you through the store while educating you on how to shop healthy at a grocery store, tell you about marketing tools that companies use to trick people into thinking unhealthy foods are healthy and suggesting great ingredients for some of your meals.
 
Step Six:      
     
Breaking Barriers is a group that meets every other week. This is a support group that helps our patients break through their barriers that are holding them back from attaining their goals. Whether you are having trouble with your nutrition, dealing with stress or just finding the inspiration to come to a workout; this group is for everyone.
