Katie Gerarge, PA
Physician Assistant
Katie J. Gerarge, is a board-certified Physician Assistant with more than 20 years of clinical experience serving patients throughout the Coastal Virginia. She has devoted more than 18 years of her career to pain management and has cared for thousands of patients with acute and chronic pain conditions.
Katie has a particular interest in centralized and complex pain syndromes, including fibromyalgia, chronic migraine, complex regional pain syndrome, chronic pelvic pain, chronic postsurgical pain, degenerative spine disorders, and phantom limb pain.
At Gershon Pain Specialists, Katie provides comprehensive, patient-centered care using a multidisciplinary approach. She performs office-based procedures including botulinum toxin injections for chronic migraine and cervical dystonia, trigger point injections, occipital nerve blocks, therapeutic joint injections, PRP joint injections, and Perineural Injection Therapy. She also helps manage patients before and after advanced treatments including spinal cord stimulation, peripheral nerve stimulation, and radiofrequency ablation.
Prior to specializing in pain management, Katie practiced in family medicine and urgent care and later cared for medically complex patients in inpatient palliative care and internal medicine.
Katie is also passionate about medical education and mentoring future healthcare professionals. She serves as a preceptor for medical and Physician Assistant students and has been a recurring guest lecturer for Physician Assistant programs in Virginia and Kansas.
Katie believes every patient’s pain experience is unique and works collaboratively with patients to develop individualized treatment plans designed to reduce pain, improve function, and help them return to the activities that matter most.
Outside of medicine, Katie maintains a rotating carousel of hobbies and passions that currently include reading, orchid cultivation, monarch butterfly rearing, sourdough baking, Pokémon hunting, raising two amazing teenagers, and trying to keep her husband alive as he pursues his extreme sporting adventures.
